Due to inclement weather, this event was moved from April 26 until May 17.

The magic of Barcelona’s Sant Jordi Book Festival comes to the West Village, NYC on Saturday, April 26, 12-5 on Christopher Street between 6th Ave and Waverly. Three Rooms Press will be there with fantastic books  with a special focus on our books in translation as well as MAINTENANT, our annual International journal of contemporary DADA writing and art.

Check out our performance that day:  DADA VS DOGE:  West Village publishers of Three Rooms Press, Peter Carlaftes and Kat Georges, will read with Andrei CodrescuJane LeCroy and Sophie Malleret to show why Dada should once again be all the rage. They will read from MAINTENANT, their journal of Dada literature and art.

A slew of great publishers will be on hand, and with the purchase of each book, you will receive a beautiful long-stem red rose. Plus Catalonian food all day, as well as Galicia beer and Raventos Cava will make this a fun event for everyone. The Sant Jordi Book Festival in Barcelona is one of the most beautiful book fairs in the world. Devoted to St. George, who slew the dragon to save the damsel in distress, it is the St. Valentine’s Day of Catalonia. As the legend goes, when Sant Jordi wounded the dragon’s wing a rose bush sprang up from the drops of blood that fell to the ground. In celebration, gentlemen would give their ladies a rose. In the late 1920’s the booksellers’ guild added books into the mix. On the feast day of St. George, the promenades of Barcelona are lined with bookstands and flower stalls, and everyone buys a book and a rose.
