2023 Bouchercon to Showcase 3RP Mystery Authors
The annual Bouchercon conference is a celebration of mystery writing that attracts thousands of fans and top writers from around the world. This year’s conference is in San Diego August 30 through September 3 and Three Rooms Press authors were featured throughout the gathering. Here’s just a small sampling of panels featuring authors 3RP has published.
Wednesday August 30
Music and Mysteries: Musician Detectives or Song Inspired Stories: A panel on music and mysteries in detective fiction featured 3RP’s CRIME PLUS MUSIC anthology editor Jim Fusilli (former pop music critic for The Wall Street Journal) as moderator.
Saturday, September 2, 1:05 pm
Southern California Historical: The Place Has a Past: THE UNVARNISHED GARY PHILLIPS author, Gary Phillips, himself, will join a panel of fellow SoCal writers to discuss what makes this gorgeous territory such a perfect setting for mystery writers.
Humor and Homicide: How Authors Kill at Both: The 2017 Bouchercon anthology, FLORIDA HAPPENS, was published by Three Rooms Press, and editor Greg Herren, pulls out all the stops as he moderates a panel about how mystery authors weave laughs and levity into criminally good stories.
Saturday, September 2, 2:20 pm
Dark Moments for Characters in Noir, Hard Boiled, Thriller, Suspense and Detective Stories: 3RP author Christopher Chambers (SCAVENGER, STANDALONE), joins a panel talking about techniques authors use to explore the grittier, dark themes of the mystery genre.

If you’re an author with a new project attending Bouchercon, 3RP co-directors Peter Carlaftes and Kat Georges would love to meet. Please get in touch at [email protected] and we’ll set it up.
