Noir: An Antidote to Social Distancing
Check out 3RP co-director Peter Carlaftes’ new essay up on CrimeReads! Through the lens of the current quarantine and isolation, Carlaftes explores the past and present of the noir genre and looks to its future, one with diversity at its heart. “The best noir is steeped in isolation. And right now, so are we. Which direction should we head?” he asks, drawing from a scene penned by James M. Cain during the Great Depression. We find ourselves at a critical point in history, but building community out of noir story anthologies can be an antidote to the grief of social distancing.
