The event includes the West Coast launch of the internationally-renowned Maintenant 7: Journal of Contemporary DaDa Writing and Art, which features more than 100 visual and literary works by artists and writers worldwide. The event takes place Saturday, June 29, 4-6 pm at Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center in Venice. Costumes encouraged.
Featured performers include famed playwright-poet Doug Knott (Last of the Knotts), Mike Mollett and LA DADA (Carma Bums), Joanie Fritz Zosike (DADAnewyork), and Jeff Boynton and Mona Jean Cedar (Circuitry + Poetry). In addition, the event features the world premieres of Friends Scream for 2 Days (a mini DaDa Opera with music lyrics by Jan Michael Alejandro) and The Mirrored City (a DaDa ASL performance piece written by Jan Michael Alejandro, Jody Stevenson and Kalen Feeney, with ASL poetry by REZ). Both of these pieces will be performed by a cast of deaf actors, with ASL interpreters.
